Going from 20 merchants to 60 sounds like a simple growth story: three times as many businesses, three times as many relationships. In practice, the work changes much more than the number suggests.
At 20 merchants, an agent can often keep a close mental picture of each business. At 60, that approach starts to break down. More merchants means more installations, questions, follow-ups, inactive accounts, upgrade prospects and situations that need attention.
The Book Becomes a System
With a smaller book, an agent may be able to remember who needs a call or which merchant has a problem. At 60, relying on memory becomes risky.
The agent needs a simple way to organise the book: which merchants are active, which need support, which are quiet, which are paying and which free merchants may have a future upgrade opportunity.
Free Merchants Change the Calculation
The current Knomart model allows merchants to remain on the Free plan. That is good for access, but it creates a different challenge for agents: supporting a larger book can include merchants who are not yet generating recurring commission.
This is why growth cannot be measured only by the number of merchants signed up. The agent has to understand the quality and economics of the book as well.
Support Time Becomes the Constraint
At 20 merchants, personal support may feel manageable. At 60, the same habits can consume the agent's working day.
The answer is not to neglect merchants. It is to become more organised: handle repeat questions consistently, prioritise genuine problems, follow up deliberately and recognise which work should eventually be supported by other members.
What Successful Growth Looks Like
A growing merchant book should become more structured, not more chaotic. The agent should know where attention is needed and where the book is producing value.
That is the real change from 20 to 60. The agent is no longer simply managing relationships one by one. They are building a repeatable way to serve businesses.
More merchants create more opportunity—but only if the agent's way of working grows with the book.
