Start with real merchants
The foundation is simple: sign genuine businesses, not people who have no real need for the system. Each merchant should understand the Free tier, be properly onboarded and have an Agent who is prepared to support the relationship.
This changes the way an Agent should think about the pipeline. It is not just a list of names. It is a group of real businesses that the Agent has introduced to Knomart and continues to know and support.
Why Free merchants can matter later
A Free merchant pays no recurring subscription fee, so there is no recurring commission while the merchant remains Free. The Agent can still receive the $10 setup fee and keeps it in full.
If the merchant later upgrades, the signing Agent keeps the claim. The merchant then moves into the normal paid-merchant commission model, where the Agent receives 50% of what the merchant pays each month while the merchant stays.
The pipeline grows through relationships
The value is not created by repeatedly asking every Free merchant to upgrade. It comes from staying connected and understanding the business.
- Onboard properly: Make sure the merchant gets started correctly.
- Stay useful: Support the merchant after signup.
- Watch for change: Notice when the business develops new needs.
- Explain options honestly: When an upgrade becomes relevant, help the merchant understand the available paid tier.
- Think beyond today: A merchant that stays Free today may have different needs later.
Do not treat every merchant as a future upgrade
A long-term asset is not the same as a guaranteed future income stream. Some merchants may remain Free. The Agent's job is to build a healthy book of genuine relationships rather than assume every signup will convert.
Build the pipeline deliberately
Think relationship first, pipeline second. A strong Free-merchant pipeline is built one genuine business at a time. Support the merchants you sign, keep the relationship alive and let business needs determine what happens next.
Over time, that collection of trusted merchant relationships can become one of the most valuable parts of an Agent's book.
