Why Partners Must Not Deduct Membership Contributions from Wages

Knomart membership should be a genuine choice for Partner staff, not a compulsory payroll deduction imposed by the business that employs them.

Every person a Knomart Partner fields must be a Knomart member. But that requirement does not mean a Partner should simply remove the membership contribution from an employee's wages.

Membership Should Be Chosen

Knomart is built around membership. People join the community because they choose to participate in an ecosystem connecting people, businesses and opportunities.

If a Partner automatically deducts the contribution from someone's pay, the meaning of membership changes. Instead of feeling like participation in a community, it can feel like another employment cost being imposed on the worker.

The Employer and the Member Have Different Roles

A Partner is a registered business that can employ people to help sell, implement and support Knomart. The employee, however, remains an individual member of the wider Knomart community.

Keeping those roles separate matters. Employment should not become the mechanism through which someone is forced to carry the cost of membership.

Why Payroll Deductions Can Damage Trust

A Partner may think deducting the contribution is convenient, especially when several staff members need to become members. But convenience for the business can create resentment for the employee.

That is especially important in a membership organisation. The long-term value of the network depends on people seeing themselves as participants, not simply as workers whose access has been attached to their job.

Partners Should Build Participation, Not Force It

The better approach is for Partners to explain why membership matters, help staff understand the community and allow each person to make a genuine decision to participate.

This also supports the broader Partner model. Staff can be certified, badged and rated while remaining members in their own right. The Partner gains a stronger team, and the Knomart community gains members who have chosen to be part of it.

The Principle Is Simple

The staffing rule and the wage rule work together. Every person a Partner fields must be a Knomart member, but membership should not become a hidden employment deduction.

Partner growth should create stronger participation in the Knomart community—not turn membership into a cost that employees discover has already been taken from their wages.
